“SAPTCO” honored by transporting approximately 7 million passengers during 1438H Hajj Season

The Saudi Public Transport Company “SAPTCO” has announced that its operation plan for this year’s Hajj season 1438AH has been successful.

SAPTC Chief Executive Officer Engr. Khalid Abdullah Al-Hogail, stated that the company plan, which began simultaneously with the decision banning the entry of small vehicles to the holy sites’ areas from last 20 Dhul Qada to 23 Dhul Hijjah, has been a success. Transportation of pilgrims from the Saudi cities to Mecca or between the holy sites; or to and from the car impound centers or to Madina, went smoothly well using the company’s comfortable and high- passenger-capacity buses.

Engr. Al-Hogail, said that ‘SAPTCO” operational plan has covered all the areas to which the pilgrims moved and was designed according to well-studied laid down plans and schedules. Various factors contributed to the success of the plan including the usage of sufficient resources and the adoption of coordination with the competent authorities.

SAPTCO has achieved a record in the transportation of pilgrims. It was an honor for us to transport approximately (7,000,000) passengers during this year’s Hajj season 1438AH Engr. Al-Hogail stated. “There was a special transport service inside Mecca and the holy sites for the pilgrims to move from their places of stay to the Grand Mosque to perform the five prayers” Engr. Al-Hogail added. Aside from its public transport network in Mecca, the company rendered other services including transporting of internal pilgrims from (Kadi) parking areas and Prince Mutib Tunnels (Almaskhouta); to and from the impound points at Aziziya, King Khalid Bridge, Almuwaisim. King Abdullah Road;- Al-Aziziyah, and King Abdullah Road; Car Show Rooms. The services also included inter-cities transport and movement of pilgrims to and from Mecca station, Jeddah station, and Madina station both ways; in addition to trips that covered more than (380) cities and centers all over the Kingdom.

During the Hajj season, “SAPTCO” provided rental services too for the pilgrims guide entities and missions to serve the pilgrims at the holy sites. “SAPTCO” also participated with the General Automotive Union under the supervision of the Ministry of Pilgrimage in providing transport services between Jeddah, Mecca, Madina and the holy sites. Transport services for individual pilgrims were also rendered by SAPTCO limousine fleet.

Results of “SAPTCO” work in the service of pilgrims during the pilgrimage season 1438AH Engr. Al-Hogail lauded the joint effort of all those involved with the transport sector to reduce the traffic jam and congestion in Mecca roads, the central area around the Grand Mosque and the holy sites at the peak of the Hajj season. Engr. Al-Hogail, ascertained the company position to enhance its services every year and securing to needs the public transport requirements during the Hajj season. The company plan to meet the operational requirements in Mecca, holy sites and Madina was laid down to reach the ultimate goal which is providing distinguished and safe services for the guests of Allah. Engr. Al-Hogail praised the cooperation extended to “SAPTCO” by the Ministry of Transport, Public Transport Authority and all pertinent entities such as the Pilgrimage Security Forces and the Traffic Directorate for their prompt response and readiness to remove all obstacles and thus contribute to the success of ‘SAPTCO” plan during the season.

Engr. Al-Hogail concluded his statement by expressing sincere congratulations on the success of the season to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz. Engr. Al-Hogail, also praised the close follow-up to the pilgrimage affairs shown by HRH Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Interior and Chairman of Supreme Pilgrimage Committee; HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdul Aziz, Advisor of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Governor of Mecca, Chairman of Central Pilgrimage Committee and Chairman of Pilgrims Transport Monitoring Authority; HRH Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz and Governor of Madina; HE Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al-Hamdan Minister of Transport; and HE Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, Chairman of Public Transport Authority.
